DIALOGUES ABOUT ARTISTIC FREEDOM
A Research and Discussion Project Exploring Attacks upon Artistic Freedom

This project documents politically motivated attacks against artists and cultural institutions and examines motivations and systemizations. Alongside the documentation of incidents, the project also allows for an interdisciplinary exchange between institutions and seeks to strengthen them sustainably against attacks.

RESEARCH INTO ATTACKS ON ARTISTIC FREEDOM
Attacks will be collected that have been made against a wide spectrum of arts, genres and places in cities or rural areas and, alongside theaters and museums, also include, for examples, cabarets, rock music, queer subculture, school theater and Jewish cultural events. What will be documented exclusively are politically motivated aggressions against artistic freedom and against artists and cultural institutions in the form of threats, assaults, attempts at intimidation, disturbances, et cetera.

DISCUSSION EVENTS
A component of this project are events and symposia in which cultural institutions and those active in art and culture come together with experts to discuss incidents and strategies.
The exchange is intended to raise awareness of attacks and create a sense of solidarity amongst those affected, support a long-term dialogue, provide clarification and strengthen institutions and artists against future attacks.
